Tunisia – Germany: which airline is the most punctual?

Germany is one of Tunisia's biggest air markets: Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Munich, Berlin, Hanover, Stuttgart… Between April and September 2026 we recorded 4,959 flights between Germany and the airports of Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis and Monastir, operated by seven airlines. For each one, we compared the scheduled time with the actual take-off or landing time.
Overall ranking
| Airline | Flights (Apr–Sep 2026) | On time (≤ 15 min) | Average delay when late | Delays over one hour | Cancelled |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nouvelair | 1,927 | 75% | 49 min | 6% | 4 |
| Eurowings Discover | 408 | 71% | 34 min | 3% | 4 |
| Lufthansa | 739 | 65% | 33 min | 3% | 6 |
| Sundair | 71 | 59% | 40 min | 9% | 0 |
| TUI fly | 462 | 57% | 44 min | 6% | 0 |
| Eurowings | 316 | 48% | 44 min | 10% | 0 |
| Tunisair | 1,007 | 42% | 74 min | 25% | 1 |
Nouvelair operates the most flights between the two countries and is also the most punctual: three flights out of four on time. The German airlines Lufthansa and Eurowings Discover are on time a little less often, but their delays are the shortest (about 35 minutes on average). Tunisair comes last: 42% of flights on time, and one in four more than an hour late.
Lufthansa codeshare flights on Eurowings Discover aircraft (flight numbers LH4xxx) are counted only once, under the airline that actually operates the flight.
The detail that changes everything: outbound and return
| Airline | Arrivals in Tunisia on time | Departures from Tunisia on time |
|---|---|---|
| Nouvelair | 76% | 74% |
| Eurowings Discover | 90% | 52% |
| Lufthansa | 84% | 46% |
| TUI fly | 82% | 32% |
| Eurowings | 57% | 39% |
| Tunisair | 55% | 29% |
Every airline is less punctual leaving Tunisia than arriving, partly because the departure time recorded is the take-off time (taxiing is included). But the gap varies enormously: it is almost zero at Nouvelair, while TUI fly goes from 82% on arrival to 32% on departure. For the flight back to Germany, Nouvelair is by far the safest choice.

Key points:
- Tunis – Düsseldorf is the route where the choice of airline matters most: Nouvelair 66%, Tunisair 25%.
- To Frankfurt and Munich from Tunis, Nouvelair and Lufthansa are almost level; Lufthansa's delays are the shortest, though.
- Monastir and Djerba are much more punctual than Tunis: 76% and 69% of flights to and from Germany on time, against 54% at Tunis-Carthage.
When to travel?
Punctuality follows the season: 67% in April, 71% in May, then a decline to 54% in August, the busiest month, before recovering to 63% in September. If your dates are flexible, late spring is the most reliable time. Our guide Best month to fly covers this trend for all flights.
What it means for you
- If you have a connection in Frankfurt or Munich, keep a margin of at least two to three hours, especially when leaving Tunis in summer.
- If you are picking someone up who is flying in from Germany, check the live status on the Tunis-Carthage, Monastir or Djerba arrivals pages.
- Before booking, each route page shows the recent punctuality of every airline, updated automatically.
Method
The figures come from the schedules published by OACA for Tunis-Carthage, Djerba-Zarzis and Monastir airports, collected every 30 minutes by Tunisia Airports from 1 April to 30 September 2026 (departures and arrivals, all German airports). A flight is "on time" when it took off or landed at most 15 minutes late. The published times are take-off and landing times: for a departure, taxiing to the runway is included. Only flights that actually took off or landed are counted in the percentages; routes with fewer than 100 flights per airline are not detailed. Codeshare flights are counted only once. Tunisia Airports is an independent website, not affiliated with OACA or with the airlines mentioned.
