Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Tunisia's airports

✈️ Flight Information

How do I track my flight?

Simply navigate to the airport page (Tunis, Djerba, or Monastir) and select 'Arrivals' or 'Departures'. You can then search by flight number, airline, or destination. Our system provides real-time updates on flight status, gate assignments, and delays.

How accurate is your flight data?

Our flight data is sourced directly from the Tunisian Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA) and airport management systems, ensuring high accuracy. The information is updated in real-time as changes occur.

How often is flight data updated?

Flight information is updated continuously throughout the day. Status changes, gate assignments, and timing updates are reflected within minutes of being reported by the airports.

What if my flight isn't showing?

If you can't find your flight, it may be: scheduled for a different date, operated by a codeshare partner under a different flight number, or not yet in the system if it's a last-minute charter. Try searching by airline name or contact your airline directly.

Can I set up flight alerts?

Currently, we display real-time information on our website. For notifications, we recommend checking our site regularly or contacting your airline for SMS/email alert services.

🏢 Airport Services

What services are available at each airport?

Each airport offers different amenities. Visit the specific airport's 'Services' page for detailed information about lounges, shops, restaurants, medical facilities, currency exchange, ATMs, and more. Tunis-Carthage offers the most comprehensive services, while Djerba and Monastir cater specifically to leisure travelers.

Are there VIP lounges available?

Yes. Tunis-Carthage has multiple lounges including Tunisair's Espace Privilège and AVS lounges. Monastir features the TAV primeclass lounge. Djerba currently doesn't have dedicated airline lounges but offers comfortable café areas.

Where can I exchange money?

Currency exchange offices and ATMs are available at all three airports. They're typically located in both the arrivals and departures halls. Exchange rates at the airport are generally competitive, though you may find slightly better rates in city centers.

Is WiFi available?

Free WiFi is available at Tunis-Carthage (limited duration) and Monastir (unlimited). Djerba does not currently offer airport-wide free WiFi, though cafés provide WiFi to customers. Local SIM cards can be purchased at all airports.

Are there facilities for passengers with reduced mobility?

Yes, all three airports are equipped with facilities to assist passengers with reduced mobility, including wheelchair access, adapted restrooms, and assistance services. Please inform your airline at least 48 hours before your flight to arrange for assistance.

🚕 Transportation

How do I get from the airport to the city center?

Each airport offers multiple transportation options: Official taxis (yellow cabs available 24/7), rental cars from international agencies, public buses (at Tunis and Djerba), hotel shuttles, and private transfers. Detailed transportation information is available on each airport's page.

What are typical taxi prices?

Prices vary by airport: Tunis to city center costs approximately 15-20 TND (20-30 minutes), Djerba to Houmt Souk about 10 TND (9 km), and Monastir taxis use meters at approximately 0.90 TND per km. Tourist taxis (white) charge higher rates but may be more comfortable.

Can I rent a car at the airport?

Yes, all three airports have car rental desks from major international agencies (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Budget) and local companies. Many operate 24/7, especially at Tunis-Carthage. We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak tourist season.

Are there buses available?

Tunis-Carthage is served by public bus lines 35 and 635 to downtown Tunis (approximately 1.5 hours). Djerba has inexpensive public buses to Houmt Souk and other towns. Monastir is well-connected by the regional 'Metro du Sahel' train network to Sousse and Mahdia.

📋 Travel Tips

When should I arrive at the airport?

We recommend arriving at least 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours before domestic flights. This allows ample time for check-in, security screening, and potential queues, especially during peak travel seasons (summer months and holidays).

What documents do I need?

For international travel, you'll need a valid passport (with at least 6 months validity), visa if required (many nationalities can enter Tunisia visa-free for tourism), and your flight tickets. Check with your embassy or the Tunisian consulate for specific visa requirements for your nationality.

Can I bring liquids in my carry-on?

Standard international liquid restrictions apply: containers must be 100ml or less, stored in a clear resealable plastic bag (maximum 1 liter). Larger quantities must go in checked baggage. Medications and baby food are exceptions but may require documentation.

What are the baggage allowances?

Baggage allowances vary by airline and ticket class. Typically, economy passengers are allowed one checked bag (20-23 kg) and one carry-on (7-10 kg), but this varies. Always check with your specific airline before traveling to avoid excess baggage fees.

Is there a lost and found service?

Yes, each airport has a lost and found office. If you've lost an item in the terminal, contact the airport's lost and found. For items lost on the aircraft, contact your airline directly. Keep receipts and documentation for valuable items.

🗺️ About Tunisia

What's the best time to visit Tunisia?

The best time to visit Tunisia depends on your preferences: Spring (March-May) and Fall (September-November) offer pleasant temperatures (20-28°C) ideal for sightseeing. Summer (June-August) is hot (30-40°C) but perfect for beach holidays. Winter (December-February) is mild but can be rainy in the north.

Do I need a visa to visit Tunisia?

Visa requirements vary by nationality. Many countries including the EU, US, Canada, Australia, and Gulf countries can enter Tunisia visa-free for tourism (usually up to 90 days). Always verify current requirements with the Tunisian embassy or consulate before traveling.

What currency is used in Tunisia?

Tunisia uses the Tunisian Dinar (TND). It's illegal to import or export dinars, so exchange money upon arrival or before departure. Credit cards are widely accepted in cities and tourist areas, but carry cash for smaller establishments and markets. ATMs are readily available.

Is Tunisia safe for travelers?

Tunisia is generally safe for tourists, and millions visit each year without incident. Tourist areas, especially coastal regions and major cities, have enhanced security. As with any destination, stay aware of your surroundings, follow local advice, and check your government's travel advisories before departure.

What languages are spoken in Tunisia?

Arabic is the official language, but French is widely spoken, especially in business and tourism. In tourist areas, you'll find English speakers, and many signs are trilingual (Arabic, French, English). Learning a few basic Arabic or French phrases is appreciated by locals.
